Sun Sprout News, November 22nd, 2007Plenty of Excitement on Hot Laps Day
Sun Sprout’s first hot laps day at Pukekohe racetrack provided plenty of thrills and excitement.
Sun Sprout’s first hot laps day generated plenty of thrills and excitement at the Pukekohe racetrack on October 19, and has strengthened the company’s resolve to hold more of them.
Fifteen lucky hot laps winners and distributors enjoyed a day of lunch and laps with Sun Sprout, and at least one of then got a lot more excitement than he bargained for.
The first thrill seeker experienced some extra excitement when the Sun Sprout Mazda 1989 Series 5 RX7 racecar blew a tyre while blasting down the back straight at 260 km/h, and skidded into the mud off the track. In exchange for the additional adrenaline the first hot laps winner then had to hop out the car and help push the racecar back on the track.
Although the blow out was completely controlled and posed no danger to any of the participants or spectators, the sight of it raised the anticipation levels of some of the waiting passengers and maximised the excitement for everyone.
Another unexpected bonus of the day was being in the pit next door to V8 Supercar driver Paul Radisich. With many of the Sun Sprout winners admitting to be diehard petrol heads, being able to watch a racing celebrity at close range really boosted their hot laps experience.
One participant described his Sun Sprout hot laps experience as a great way to spend a day. He says, “Everything happens at break neck speed from the minute you take off to the second you stop. You’re buckled in almost like a fighter pilot. You’ve got those straps that come over your shoulders, you’re wearing a full faced helmet and a fire retardant suit so you’ve got all the gear and look the part, and it’s really lots of fun.”
In addition to enjoying three hot laps each, the hot lap winners also got to sample plenty of Sun Sprout products throughout the day and the out-of-towners also got a tour of the factory.
Sun Sprout Managing Director Stephen Dench, who is also the driver of the Sun Sprout racecar, says the day was a huge success and he is looking forward to holding more of them.
Stephen says, “It really was a good fun day for everyone, and a great reminder that living in the fast lane doesn’t mean you have to eat bad. Healthy meal solutions like the Dashborad Diner Salad Shakes enable you to eat on the run and still be healthy too.”
The Sun Sprout racecar is jointly sponsored by Sun Sprout Ltd, Dashboard Diner Ltd and Farmer Bill’s Baby Peeled Carrots. The car competes in the Super GTs and NZ Endurance Series Champs, and is supported at all the events with lots of free healthy food giveaways and competitions for hot laps.
Sun Sprout runs regular hot lap draws throughout the year, and the next one is due to be drawn before Christmas. To enter the draw, all you need to do is visit the Sun Sprout website at www.sunsprout.co.nz and fill out the entry form on the motorsport page.
