Sun Sprout News, July 25th, 2007Sun Sprout Boosts Supply of Baby Peeled Carrots
Sun Sprout’s Rangiriri farm is now the largest dedicated cut and peel carrot operation in Australasia.
Sun Sprout’s successful first harvest this month of their popular Farmer Bill’s Baby Peeled Carrots on their own recently expanded cut and peel carrot farm has guaranteed an exciting new lift in supply.
Farmer Bill’s Baby Peeled Carrots are a particularly popular in children’s lunchboxes. Children love the sweet taste and novelty of the baby peeled carrots, and parents are attracted by their convenience and high nutritional value.
Sun Sprout will now be growing almost all of their Farmer Bill’s Baby Peeled Carrots on their 80-hectare model farm in Rangiriri, just south of Auckland, which will significantly improve their availability and quality.
The baby carrots will also be grown on the Rangiriri farm throughout the year, which will remove the need to import carrots at any time during the year.
Sun Sprout Managing Director, Stephen Dench says, the move away from contracting Sun Sprout’s carrot production to numerous growers of standard-sized carrots has enabled Sun Sprout to cater better for the specialised growing needs of the smaller cut and peel carrot variety.
He says, “Taking control of our whole growing operation will significantly improve the quality and consistency of our carrots and help our operation become a world leader, right from farm to plate.”
