Turn a run-of-the-mill burger into a talked about masterpiece with this amazing combination of textures and colours.
You will need: 1packet of Sandwich Sprouts An optional handful of Sango Sprouts for a touch of spice and colour 1bag of Baby Spinach Leaves or a shredded lettuce 4 hamburger buns, halved, spread with butter on the inside 4 large Iceberg lettuce leaves 4 slices of beefsteak Tomatoes 800 grams of lean minced beef, lamb or pork meat formed into 8 patties, and cooked (preferably barbecued for maximum taste) 6 tbsp Magnificent Sprout Burger rich mayonnaise or Thousand Island Dressing (See below) 150 grams of grated Parmesan cheese (optional) 4 tbsp butter salt and pepper to taste
Toast the inside of buttered buns under a grill or on the barbecue until golden brown. Grill or barbecue the meat patties and season to taste with salt and pepper. Now lay your toasted buns open and, beginning with a layer of Sandwich Sprouts on the bottom, add one meat patty spread lavishly with Magnificent Sprout Burger rich mayonnaise or Thousand Island Dressing, lettuce, tomato slices, spinach or shredded cheese, and more Sandwich and/or Sango Sprouts. Add the second meat patty and continue to layer in this way until you finish off with the top of your bun.
Serve immediately.
Note: for vegetarians you can make the same recipe using tofu slices spread with olive oil then grilled as a substitute for meat.
Magnificent Sprout Burger Dressing 1 cup of your favourite mayonnaise or Thousand Island dressing 1 tbsp yellow or brown mustard ¼ red capsicum chopped 2 hard boiled eggs 4 green olives chopped (or 1 fresh gherkin) Salt and pepper to taste Cut the capsicum into tiny pieces, discarding the seeds. Finely chop or grate the eggs. Stone the olives and chop finely. Combine the mayonnaise and mustard and add the capsicum, egg, and olives.
