Eating Your Way to Good Health

Scientists around the world are increasingly confirming what most of our ancestors already knew – that diets rich in plants and sprouts improve our health and protect us from disease.

Somehow in the modern age many people have moved away from plant rich diets and paid the price with their health. This has led to an epidemic in many Western nations of obesity and a number of degenerative diseases in younger and younger people that were previously associated only with old age. In fact, based on current health statistics, it is widely expected that:

 1:2 people will develop Diabetes
1:3 people will develop some form of Cancer
Every hour - someone will have a heart attack

And
For the first time in human evolution, the lifespan of the next generation will be shorter than their parents

However, there is good news. Scientific statistics also show a complete reversal of this trend in populations with a high daily intake of fresh produce. The commonly agreed cause for this much healthier outcome is that plants (including sprouts) are rich in both antioxidants and phytochemicals (plant compounds), which provide proven protection against disease.

To get the most benefit from these life giving substances, researchers recommended we consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables daily, in a variety of colours.
