Healthy Happenings - July 2008
Hello once again from Healthy Happenings – where you can read all about the healthy and sustainable activities of Sunsprout.
Our big announcement this month is that New Zealand Fresh Cuts Limited, our parent and growing and processing company (www.nzfreshcuts.co.nz) has announced Carbon Neutrality. An exciting achievement for us, one that we have been working towards for 18 months now, and we believe we are the first Salad and Sprout Company worldwide to achieve this status.
Following on from last issue of the newsletter, Farmer Bills Schools Programme is now live, and schools are taking advantage of the programme to not only assist with educational aid funding, but also encouraging their pupils and parents with healthy eating.
There is always something of interest happening down on the farm – and this issue tells of the benefits obtained from equipping our tractors with GPS.
We’ll introduce you to Millie Stiff, the latest addition to our Sunsprout Sales Team, who will be looking after our customers from Otahuhu, Auckland through to the top of the North Island.
With luck you know you might get to come across Jackie Markinovich on the phones. Jackie, who has been with New Zealand Fresh Cuts for some time, has taken on additional duties and now assists Michael and Michelle with daily sales administration and customer calling.
This winter is proving a difficult time for all produce growers and suppliers and we have been experiencing some product shortages as a result of hail damage and the consistent heavy rain we have been experiencing. Our apologies for this, but unfortunately we are unable to ”order the weather”, but are going everything we can to ensure consistent supply and quality.
